With Eric Young, Jr. -- who pinch ran and stole second base -- on second with two outs in the seventh inning, David Wright had driven an RBI single to left field to tie things, 3-3.
Bartolo Colon exited the game with the bases loaded, one out in the seventh inning, and the Mets leading 2-0. Addison Reed relieved him and allowed an RBI single to Michael Bourn as Atlanta trimmed the lead to 2-1. Freddie Freeman followed with a pinch-hit, two run double to right field to give the Braves a 3-2 lead.
Daniel Murphy's solo homer in the first inning gave the Mets a 1-0 lead and Ruben Tejada's RBI single in the second inning increased their lead to 2-0
Colon carried a perfect game into the fifth inning, but faltered late in his outing. Overall, he allowed three runs on five hits, walked one and struck out one in 6 1/3 innings.
The Mets open a four-game series against the Reds on Thursday in Cincinnati at 7:10 p.m. Steven Matz (4-0, 1.80 ERA) gets the start for the Mets. He'll be opposed by Josh Smith (0-2, 7.71 ERA) for Cincinnati.
