Now Commenting On:

The Mets (66-80) were shutout by the Brewers (74-72) by the score of 3-0 today in Milwaukee.

The Least You Should Know:

Chris Young started for the Mets and he was solid for 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs and eight hits.

Young did allow three solo home runs - two to Ryan Braun and one to Aramis Ramirez.

The Mets produced just two hits on the afternoon - a Josh Thole single in the third and an Andres Torres single in the sixth. They had four baserunners in total on the day.

The top six in the Mets batting order went 0-for-21 with five strikeouts on the afternoon, went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and advanced no runners to third base.

This was a boring and uninspiring display by the offense, and they did nothing to support Chris Young, who pitched pretty well this afternoon. This team's hitters are difficult to watch on a daily basis, and it's sad to have to say that year after year in August and September. I want to believe progress is being made, but it's hard to feel that way right now considering the results are getting worse and worse. Needless to say, this is a huge off-season for Sandy Alderson and his group to not only retain a superstar, but to begin to surround him and the young pitching staff with talent so to get on a winning track.
