With their outfield depth on the 40-man roster thin, the Mets will be giving Jose Reyes and Wilmer Flores reps in the outfield during Spring Training, according to the team's beat reporters.
Reyes learned to play the outfield last season, but was only used there twice -- once in center field (for 1 inning), and another time in left field (for 5.1 innings).
Flores has never played anywhere but the infield.
With Michael Conforto expected to be out until roughly May 1, the Mets will likely carry four outfielders on their Opening Day roster -- Yoenis Cespedes, Juan Lagares, Brandon Nimmo, and Jay Bruce.
Aside from the above outfielders, the Mets do not have another outfielder on their 40-man roster.
However, the team is reportedly exploring a reunion with Matt den Dekker.
