New Hampshire lost last night which clinched a playoff spot for Trenton as Binghamton's opponent in the first round. Deck McGuire has faced Binghamton 4 times this year going 2-1 with a 6.85 ERA with 22 hits, 11 walks and 18 strike outs in 22.1 IP.
Darin Gorski has limited EL batters to a .179 BA against him, striking out 62 and walking 22 over 71.2 IP in AA.
Rainy Lara has thrown 60 (!) more innings than he did last year with the Cyclones. While this is offset some by XST innings its still rather surprising that he is still going while others have been shut down.
Josh Hodges held St. Lucie to 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks over 6.2 IP on Aug 18th.
This makes up for the July 14th postponement. Peterson and Matz will shared a double header for the third consecutive time through the rotation.
Tim Petersen has allowed 8 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7 over 6.1 IP in his two starts.
Steven Matz held WV to 1 run on 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7 over 5.1 IP. He'll likely pitch game two of the postseason, next Friday.
Robert Gsellman shutout SI for 7 IP allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5 on July 26th. Over his last two starts he allowed just an unearned run on 7 hits and two walks while striking out 18 over 15 IP against Vermont. Aberdeen trails the Cyclones by a half game in the division race with six games remaining.
Wrapping up the regular season in the APL. Persio Reyes allowed Bluefield 6 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 8 over 4.2 IP in his last start. His last two starts haven't been great (16 hits in 11.2 IP) but on the year he has allowed 52 hits and 15 walks over 57.1 IP while striking out 52. Bluefield now trails Pulaski by half a game for the East division, so they still have something to play for tonight. Game One for Kingsport will be tomorrow at 7, in Greeneville.
The 51s scored 49 runs in their 6 game series in Colorado Springs, winning 4 of the 6 and maintaining a 2 game lead on Sacramento for the division. 14 different LasVegas pitchers appeared in that series, Rafael Montero was the only one not to appear. Over his last 10 starts Montero is holding PCL batters to a .242 BAA and has a 2.51 ERA over 57.1 IP. Except for a drop in K rate, these numbers now look a lot more like his numbers in 11 AA starts. Sacramento (78-62) will take on Tacoma (73-67) who were eliminated from playoff contention yesterday when they lost their series finale against Salt Lake. LasVegas would take on the Bees if they make the postseason.
