- In the Star-Ledger, Andy McCullough revisits Kirk Nieuwenhuis' football recruiting visit that pushed him towards baseball. My favorite quote from Nieuwenhuis' college coach, who played him at first as a freshman, "After you evaluate that season, we were like, ‘Dude, what are we doing keeping him at first? He needs to be a center fielder.'”
- Wright StuffDavid Wright will be re-evaluated today and might even play if he can tolerate the pain. It certainly does not look like the Mets are planning to place Wright on the disabled list. All four potential candidates for an MLB callup - Zach Lutz, Jordany Valdespin, Josh Satin and Vinny Rottino - are in Buffalo's lineup for Friday's afternoon game against the SW/B Yankees. Ted Berg argues that the Mets would be best served, longterm, by leaving Daniel Murphy at second, even if it costs the team a few runs in the interim while Wright sits because ultimately, the Mets need to figure out whether Murphy can play second. I think this is right, as long as Wright will be out for a brief period of time.
And... another Bisons day game.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (2-5) @ Buffalo Bisons (4-4) - 1:05 pmRHP Jeremy Hefner (1-0, 2.57) vs. RHP D.J. Mitchell (1-0, 0.00)
When he's healthy, he hits. And it's always been thus. Zach Lutz is healthy and hitting. The 25-year old has hit safely in his last seven games, going 9-for-24 (.375) with a double, two homers, three walks and seven strikeouts.Scoreboard | Listen | Bisons Roster | Yankees Roster
