Jacob deGrom (10-6, 2.09 ERA) gets the start for the Mets. He’ll be opposed by Jake Odorizzi (6-6, 2.86 ERA) for the Rays.
deGrom Notes: Since May 15, deGrom is 7-2 with a 1.47 ERA and has held opponents to a .164 batting average. His ERA and opponent batting average each rank first in the majors among all qualifiers over that span. DeGrom has gone 5-1 with a 1.22 ERA in his last six starts on the road, winning his three most recent outings.
Odorizzi Notes: Odorizzi owns a 1.41 ERA at home this season. That mark is the lowest single-season home ERA among Rays pitchers all time. He has yielded one or no earned runs in all but one of his seven home starts in 2015. Ordorizzi is 3-3 with a 3.52 ERA in eight career interleague starts.
Mets Notes: The Mets have won their last six games and nine of their last 11. In those 11 games they have received a quality start in all but one game. Mets starting pitchers have posted a 1.44 ERA during their six-game winning streak. Curtis Granderson has eight RBI while batting .355 in a seven-game hitting streak. Lucas Duda has nine home runs and driven in 15 runs during the Mets 9-2 stretch. Yoenis Cespedes has gone 7-for-22 with five RBI in five games since joining the Mets. He is 3-for-9 with a home run in his career against Odorizzi.
Rays Notes: The Rays are the only team in the AL to have no hitters with more than 50 RBI on the season. Grady Sizemore is the only Tampa Bay player with more than two at-bats against deGrom, having gone 2-for-9. Asdrubal Cabrera comes into the series riding a nine-game hitting streak. The Rays were swept by the Mets in their last series in Tampa Bay and were outscored 29-9 in three games.
