Mark Cohoon (pictured) set a new Binghamton Mets franchise record for career innings pitched and reliever Jeff Walters matched a franchise season-high with his 28th save of the year. Walters has allowed runs in five of his 40 appearances this year on his way to a 2.08 ERA and a 47/12 K/BB ratio. He's fanned a healthy 27.5% of opposing hitters while walking 7%. He's allowed one run in his last 13.2 innings since June 11. I'd sure like to see him get a shot at AAA for a month.
RF Cesar Puello was 1-for-3 and drew another walk, his eighth in his last 14 games a span in which he has hit .388/.492/.551 with eight walks and eight strikeouts and a .429 BABIP. The fact that he's walking and striking out one a 1:1 basis is a very significant development. Again, given this development, the time the 22-year-old has spent at AA looks well-invested.
LF Darrell Ceciliani extended his hitting streak to 17 straight games with a 2-for-3 night that included a double.
Lil SS Wilfredo Tovar homered in a 2-for-4 night. He's having one of those weeks (.400/.432/.600 in his last 10) to pull his overall AA line to .258/.314/.325 in 98 games. A slick defender, he just has to hit that to stay employed.
St. Lucie was rained out and the Gnats were off.
