Niese Notes: Prior to allowing six runs in three innings pitched during his start last Friday, Niese had tossed eight straight quality starts. Niese has a 3.09 ERA since June 1.
Cashner Notes: Allowed one run in seven innings during his start against Miami last Friday. Has a 2.60 ERA over his last four starts overall, but has gone 0-2 with a 5.10 ERA over his last five starts on the road.
Mets Notes: Are 24-9 in day games this season, including a 14-4 mark at Citi Field. The Mets have hit 18 home runs over their last nine home games. Curtis Granderson has reached base safely in his last 13 games and is hitting .302 during that span. Ruben Tejada is hitting .308 since July 8.
Padres Notes: Justin Upton is hitting .391 (9-for-23) for his career against Niese. The Padres are 6-4 over their last 10 games but sit in fourth place in the N.L. West, trailing the Dodgers by 8.5 games.
