Who is starting today for the Mets?
RHP Rafael Montero (3-9, 5.12 ERA), who is coming off the longest start of his big league career after throwing 8 1/3 scoreless innings against the Reds last week.
In August, the right-hander was 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over seven appearances (six starts). Montero allowed four runs on eight hits in a loss to the Phillies on July 2.
Who is starting today for the Phillies?
RHP Mark Leiter (2-4, 3.88 ERA), who yielded three runs on nine hits in a loss to the Braves in his last start on Wednesday. In five innings of relief against the Mets last month, the right-hander gave up just one run and struck out seven.
Leiter, who's been used as a swingman, is 2-3 with a 3.34 ERA as a starter this season.
