Need to Know: Mets starter Dillon Gee got off to a rocky start that was too much to overcome. The right-hander allowed three of his four surrendered runs in the first two innings as the Marlins built a 3-0 advantage.
The Mets cut that lead to one in the fifth inning thanks to Lucas Duda's two-out, two-run single that scored both Gee and Matt den Dekker. Duda later scored on Curtis Granderson's eighth-inning RBI groundout, but that was all the offense the Mets generated against Henderson Alvarez and the Marlins pitching.
Steve Cishek locked down his 37th save with a scoreless ninth.
