Need to Know: Zack Wheeler worked deep into counts, throwing 112 pitches in 6 2/3 innings but only allowing two runs in his sixth win of the season. Wheeler got the run support he needed when Daniel Murphy hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Mets the lead. They batted around in a five-run seventh to blow the game open. Even Jeurys Familia had an RBI single. Lucas Duda added a long two-run homer into the Pepsi Porch in the eighth inning. Duda now has five homers in his last eight games.
Game Ball: Murphy, who went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer that put the Mets ahead for good.
What's Next: After a day off, the Mets will send Jon Niese (5-6, 3.23) to the mound for the first of a four-game series against San Francisco. The Giants will counter with Ryan Vogelsong (5-8, 3.94).
