Result: The Phillies came within one run in the top of the ninth, but it was not enough. The Mets topped the visiting team, 6-5, to take the series victory on Sunday afternoon in Flushing.

Need to know: The Mets' bats were alive in Sunday's series win over the Phillies. Anthony Recker's sixth-inning home run sent in three runs to give New York the lead. Matt den Dekker, David Wright and Dilson Herrera also recorded RBI for the home team. Dillon Gee earned the win on the mound, allowing seven hits and three runs over six innings. Ryan Howard led the offense for the Phillies with two RBI, including a solo homer. Grady Sizemore's ninth-inning single put Philadelphia within one run of New York, but their rally fell short.

Game ball: Recker's sixth-inning home run helped push the Mets ahead with the 5-2 lead over the Phillies.
