The Mets dropped the second game of their series with Philadelphia after the Phillies' offense exploded in the middle innings.
Need to Know: In his first start since attending his mother's funeral, Bartolo Colon cruised through four innings, allowing just one baserunner on a third-inning double. Things unraveled from there, as Marlon Byrd led off the fifth with a home run and Colon allowed singles to six of the first seven batters he faced in the sixth before getting pulled. His final line was 5 1/3 innings, nine hits and six runs allowed. Matt den Dekker had the Mets' lone hit through six innings and finished 2-for-4, registering his third multi-hit game of August. Dilson Herrera picked up his first Major League hit, a single between shortstop and third base to load the bases in the seventh. Wilmer Flores plated a run shortly thereafter with an RBI single.
