Mets GM candidate Chaim Bloom released a statement Thursday after meeting with Fred and Jeff Wilpon on Wednesday.
"We had a productive meeting yesterday," Bloom said. "There was a lot of baseball conversation and I enjoyed the time we spent together."
Per the Mets, out of respect for his current role with the Rays, Bloom preferred to release a statement rather than participate in a conference call with the media.
I wasn't going to weigh in on this until I had done reporting, but now I can confidently say that the Mets gave each candidate the chance to do a conference call. Melvin was fine with it, Van Wagenen and Bloom opted not to. Nothing more to it than that.- Andy Martino (@martinonyc) October 25, 2018
Doug Melvin, currently an advisor for the Brewers, spoke with the media for roughly 35 minutes on Tuesday after his second interview.
Brodie Van Wagenen, currently an agent with CAA, declined to speak with the media due to the nature of his current job. Like Bloom, he released a statement after his second interview.
