One trade the Mets should make this offseason was pitched by each member of the panel on Mets Hot Stove on Monday night on SNY.
Perhaps the most interesting suggestion came from Gary Apple, who said the Mets should trade LHP Steven Matz, INF Wilmer Flores, and INF prospect Luis Guillorme to the Marlins for 2B Dee Gordon.
Gordon, 29, hit .308/.341/.375 with 60 stolen bases for the Marlins this past season, and was worth 3 DRS at second base.
He is owed $10.5 million in 2018, $13 million in 2019, and $13.5 million in 2020. His contract contains a $14 million option for 2021 that can be bought out for $1 million
The Marlins are in discussions to trade Giancarlo Stanton -- likely to the Giants or Cardinals -- in an effort to significantly slash payroll this offseason. In either case, Miami is expected to also explore trading Gordon, though their ask will depend on how much money they save in their for Stanton.
