Matt Harvey will be the Mets' starting pitcher for Game 1 of the World Series, manager Terry Collins said at a press conference Saturday.
"I said to Matt, 'Are you ready for it?' and he looked at me and he said, 'Damn right,'" Collins said.
Harvey will pitch Game 1, Jacob deGrom Game 2, Noah Syndergaard Game 3 and Steven Matz Game 4.
If necessary, Harvey would start Game 5, deGrom Game 6 and Syndergaard Game 7, though Collins added Harvey would be available out of the bullpen in a potential Game 7.
"I told him, 'Listen, obviously you're gonna get two starts, but Game 7 may be something,' and he said, 'I'll be ready,'" Collins said.
Including the postseason, Harvey has thrown 202 total innings this season, his first removed from Tommy John surgery.
