Mets rookie Pete Alonso spent the first half of the season demolishing baseballs as he crushed 30 homers. As he takes his talents to Monday night's Home Run Derby in Cleveland, Alonso is looking to add another notch to his belt.
And Alonso, who will square off against Carlos Santana of the Indians in the first round, has the third-best odds to win the Derby.
Here are the full odds, via Bovada:
Josh Bell +300
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. +325
Pete Alonso +400
Joc Pederson +600
Matt Chapman +900
Ronald Acuna +925
Alex Bregman +1000
Carlos Santana +1100
It's not surprising that the left-handed hitting Josh Bell is favored, since Progressive Field in Cleveland has a Green-Monsterish wall in left field that could make things a bit difficult for right-handers.
And it also shouldn't be surprising that Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who was supposed to face left-hander Christian Yelich in the first round but is now facing Matt Chapman after Yelich pulled out, is slightly favored over Alonso.
As far as Alonso's first round matchup against Santana, he's listed at -190, while Santana is at +155, per Odds Shark.
