Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen has boldly said "come get us" about the team's competitors in the NL East this season. And when it comes to the Mets' odds to win the World Series, they're on pretty equal footing.
The Mets, Nationals, and Braves all have 16/1 odds to win the World Series, while the Phillies -- strangely -- have 10/1 odds, according to BetOnline.
BetOnline must be gambling that the Phillies land one of the megastar free agents still on the market -- Bryce Harper or Manny Machado. But landing one of those players might not even vault the Phillies to the top of the division.
The Marlins, who are expected to be one of the worst teams in baseball this season, have 150/1 odds.
Baseball Prospectus currently projects the Nationals to win 89 games, with the Mets at 88, and Braves and Phillies both at 85.
The Yankees have the best odds to win the title, at 6/1, followed by the Red Sox and Astros at 7/1, and Dodgers at 9/1. The worst odds belong to the Orioles, who are 250/1.
