Citi Field home run apple doesn't rise for Travis d'Arnaud's homer until two batters later
The Citi Field home-run apple in center field did not pop up after Travis d'Arnaud's solo home run in the eighth inning, prompting fans to cheer: "App-le! App-le! We want App-le!"
Thankfully, two batters later, during a visit from the opposing manager to the pitcher's mound, the Apple appeared, drawing cheers from the crowd...
"I saw it go up and everybody went nuts," d'Arnaud said laughing after the game. "That was cool. That was fun and entertaining."
In 2015, during Game 1 of the NLDS, d'Arnaud hit the Apple with a solo home run.
The next day, Citi Field employees put a bandage on the stadium icon...
