The Mets (28-30, 5 GB in the NL East) imploded in a 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks (29-30, 11 GB in NL West) on Saturday.
They finish up their series with the D-Backs at Chase Field at 4:10 p.m. on Sunday before heading home. It will be Steven Matz (4-3, 3.55 ERA) against Merrill Kelly (4-6, 4.83 ERA).
Here's what went down on Saturday, in case you missed it:
Jacob deGrom was cruising for the Mets last night, but then Mickey Callaway and a trainer began to check on him in the seventh inning. It turned out that he had a hip cramp, and had to come out of the game with 89 pitches.
Wilmer Flores may be loving how much his house is in Arizona, but he admitted to missing New York and his Mets family.
Tomas Nido was deGrom's catcher once again last night, but Callaway noted that can't always be the case. Wilson Ramos needs to get his chemistry down with the ace because of the playoffs, the manager said.
As the Mariners are said to be selling, the Phillies have their eye set on a potential Jay Bruce trade to bring him back to the NL East.
Check out last night's highlights from the game, including Todd Frazier going deep for a two-run blast.
