Davis last played in a Grapefruit League game on March 2. He has just six official at-bats this spring.
He will be in the boot until it heals, but hopes to be back in action within a few days, he said (NY Post, Mar. 10).
Meanwhile, 1B Lucas Duda is still recovering from a tight hamstring..
He took indoor batting practice Monday for the first time in a week. The team hopes he will play in a game by this weekend (Daily News, Mar. 10).
9:25 am: Well, so much for getting Ike around 100 at bats this spring... This much-anticipated battle to see who will be Josh Satin's platoon-mate never really got started. Ike has six at bats. Duda has seven. There are 21 days until Opening Day. More importantly, this means having less information to help make a decision about the roster. Thankfully, there is time. That said, Terry Collins may want to start getting Wilmer Flores some time at first base, maybe try Daniel Murphy, get Eric Young Jr. more work at second, just in case... The last time Ike had a boot on his foot, he ended up missing half a season; and hamstrings are notorious for taking three times as long to heal as people say in public.
