Now Commenting On:

Ike Davis's father, Ron, thinks the Mets mishandled his son by speaking publicly about trade rumors this winter (New York PostNewsday).

“I think that’s why the Mets have really screwed up in that situation, because they’ve publicly done it so much,” Ron Davis said, who pitched 11 seasons in the big leagues. “It’s saying to my son, ‘Hey, we don’t want you anymore.’"

In the event the Mets don't want Davis on the Opening Day roster, he can still be sent to Triple-A to start 2014 since he still has an option and would not need to pass through waivers (Rubin, Jan. 21).

Look, Ike, buddy... if you feel disrespected, get over it. It's a business. You're a professional and success is the best revenge. So, hit Tradition Field like a raging bull, start 2014 strong and finish it strong, hit 30 home runs, have fun and everyone wins. You win. The Mets win. The fans win. And we will all forget the struggles, trade rumors and helicopter comments from our parents...
