Here is a refresher:
Toby wrote about how the Mets international signings have "Carried" the system.
Sanchez #'s: .155/.388/.223, 2B, 3 HR, 53 BB, 51 K in 54 games. I love the patience by the 17-year old, but honestly I have never seen anything like this before. He has more walks than total bases (33)!!
According to listindario.com (A Dominican Newspaper), Sanchez is the first player to sign a professional contract that was born in Isla Saona, DR. Mateo is proud of his heritage, and this statement say a lot about the young prospect:
"I want to get very far in baseball and to bring aid to Isla Saona, that's one of my wishes"
In May, the Mets signed a top Dominican arm in Luis Mateo. Remember Mateo was suspended by MLB for lying about his age. The 21-year old Mateo has absolutely dominated the DSL this season, and I am wondering why he has not been promoted to the U.S. yet.
Mateo (10 starts): 5-1, 1.46 ERA, 49 1/3 IP, 29 hits, 3 bb, 61 k. Yes that is dominant.
Lupo (OF): .211/.343/.389, 5 doubles, triple, 3 homeruns, 16 bb, 36 k, 4 SB. DOB: 11/26/93
Canelon (SS): .236/.313/.250, 2B, 7 bb, 15 k. DOB:9/10/91
Others of note:
Alfredo Reyes (SS): .188/.295/.226, 2 doubles, triple, home run, 26 bb, 44 k, 5 SB. DOB:10/4/93
Pedro Perez (3B): .260/.356/.325, 5 doubles, triple, home run, 20 bb, 35 k, 9 SB. DOB: 8/31/94
