Mets OF Jay Bruce, who has been held out of spring training games due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, plans to serve as DH on Tuesday.
Bruce told reporters that his plantar fasciitis is minor and that he is taking batting practice and running the bases on Sunday. He was also able to participate in batting practice on Saturday.
With the Mets and Indians, Bruce hit .254/.324/.508 with 36 HR and 101 RBI in 2017. The 30-year-old signed a three-year, $39 million deal with the Mets this offseason.
The Mets hope to be fully healthy heading into Opening Day, when they play the Cardinals on March 29 at 1:10 p.m.
