Mets LHP Josh Edgin had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday, the team announced.
At the end of July, Edgin cleared waivers and was sent to Triple-A Las Vegas. On August 12, he was placed on the seven-day disabled list.
Infielder T.J. Rivera is set to undergo Tommy John surgery on his injured right elbow this week or next week.
Rivera, who has been on the disabled list since June 28 with a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament, had been attempting to rehab his injury at the Mets' facility in Port St. Lucie.
While pitchers usually miss about 10-12 months with this surgery, position players can return in as little as six months, but typically miss up to six-to-eight months.
