Free-agent infielder Juan Uribe, 36, hit six home runs and had 20 RBI in 44 games for the Mets last season after being acquired from the Braves in July.
There have been no published reports indicating the Mets have interest in bringing him back for 2016. However, he could be a fit for the Indians and Angels, according to a Jan. 25 report by Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
Uribe was a nice player for the Mets toward the end of last season, but I don't see how he fits in with them now. For starters, there are no roster spots left. But, aside from that, the Mets already have a handful of players that can back-up multiple positions.
Last summer, Uribe was needed for depth and experience, both of which the Mets now have covered going in to 2016.
