The Mets swept a series! The Mets swept a series! And there are more Mets babies to talk about!
It really has been quite the week in Mets Land. No, we're not back to our exciting start to the season, but hey, baby steps! (Yes, pun intended).
The Mets actually won four out of their five games this past week, which is pretty impressive with what we have been seeing recently. It wasn't the easiest week, though, filled with rain delays and more injuries.
One of the biggest hits happening was Juan Lagares likely being out for the season. I am sad about this for a couple of reasons. Lagares was heating up and starting to look good. Plus, with Yoenis Cespedes already out (and honestly, even when he does come back, we cannot rely on him being back for good for the rest of this season), the outfield depth we had been talking about for months is starting to go. Thank goodness for Michael Conforto!
We also need to chat about Devin Mesoraco. Did anyone expect this from him? Yeah he had great numbers before he spent the majority of the last few seasons injured, but let's be real -- I didn't really have high hopes for anyone we got for Matt Harvey. But, Mesoraco has proved me wrong so far, helping the Mets rally in Saturday's night's game, with a little help from Wilmer Flores, who also has looked pretty great this week.
Oh, and Amed Rosario finally homered! Twice! In one game! That was reassuring for all of us to see, and I'm sure it was especially reassuring for him as well.
In Tuesday night's game, the Mets reminded us that they do remember how to score runs. In Wednesday afternoon's game, the Mets reminded us that they are the Mets and can easily forget how to score runs -- but are great at remembering how to give up many runs. In all honesty, the weather was so crappy on Wednesday that the game should not have even happened.
This week also had an interesting, weird, and depressing twist to it as suggestions started to float that the Mets should consider trading Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard to the Yankees. We can just nip that talk in the butt right now, despite this happening (prepare to gag, if you have not yet seen it).

Alrighty, now what you have all been waiting for -- time to talk about Mets babies!
Jerry Blevins is a father! And in true Blevins fashion, his baby is already wearing bow ties. I did offer to babysit any time, but Blevins has not reached out to me about this offer yet. I'm great with babies, I swear, just ask my goddaugther! All kidding aside, though, congratulations Jerry. There is no doubt in our minds that you are going to make a great father.

Kevin Plawecki and his wife revealed to us all that they are expecting a baby boy.

In non-baby news, Noah Syndergaard has a new pet name for Brandon Nimmo. I really just want one ounce of Nimmo's excitement and positive attitude. I feel like it would make me a much happier person, no?

Phillip Evans caused a bit of a mini stir last week. It started when he was caught on video in the dugout flapping his arms like wings after Mesoraco's home run on Saturday night. People alluded to this being because The Dark Knight was traded for Mesoraco. But, Evans continued to do this on Sunday after Rosario's home run. There are also theories that he is in fact not flapping but instead banging on the dugout ceiling in celebration. I enjoy the flapping theory better, but alas the noise making does make a bit more sense..

Prior to Wednesday's fiasco of a game, the guys were making hot dogs in the locker room. Jacob deGrom cleared this up for all of us with the perfect response.

#CalliesMetsProm happened last week and she looked beautiful! We hope you had an amazing time, Callie! We're all jealous of that dance you got to share with Blevins.
Todd Frazier has begun calling Amed Rosario papi chulo.
And finally, the Mets went above and beyond for my brother Christopher. We had tickets to Saturday's game, but there was no way he could have stayed out in the cold and the rain with his Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We were brought up to an empty press box, and even had a surprise visit from Mr. Met and Mrs. Met. It was one of the best nights of his life. I also want to thank all of you who shared our tweets and sent well wishes for Christopher -- it's appreciated more than you know!
