The Mets were reportedly still trying to acquire Brewers C Jonathan Lucroy up until the last hour of Monday's non-waiver trade deadlibe.
However, he was eventually traded to the Rangers with reliever Jeremy Jeffress for a relief pitcher and top prospects Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz.
According to Milwaukee reporter Tom Haudricourt, in addition to Travis d'Arnaud, the Mets were being asked to part with SS Amed Rosario or 1B Dominic Smith.
The Brewers also expressed interest in Mets 2B prospect Dilson Herrera, who was eventually traded to the Reds for OF Jay Bruce, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Lucroy, 30, is hitting .301 with a .362 OBP, 13 HR, 16 doubles and three triples this season. He is due roughly $1.5 million the rest of this season, after which he has a $5.2 million team option for 2017.
