Speaking of the Diamondbacks, while they're aggressively shopping Justin Upton, no team is willing to deal a top shortstop (USA Today). Arizona met with the Mariners on Monday night, possibly to discuss Justin Upton (CBS Sports).

Kubel is a guy I thought the Mets might be interested in this winter, but there's been very little buzz surrounding the Mets, Diamondbacks, and their outfielders in general. He's coming off a big year with Arizona after a disappointing 2011 season with the Twins. He saw a resurgence in power in 2012 and also notched 30 doubles, despite striking out only 150 times. He's not a very good defender. Also, the Mets have said they're looking for right-handed power this winter and Kubel hits left-handed. He's under control for $15 million through 2014 (the D-Backs holds a $7.5 million option for him in 2014).
As for Choo, he is represented by Scott Boras, and so he's destined to hit the open market when he becomes a free agent next winter. He will likely earn around $8 million through arbitration this winter, which isn't unreasonable him, especially if the Mets clear a pitcher's salary off the books. But his ability to walk at the end of 2013 - and the fact he's left-handed - make it very difficult to see how he could fit into Sandy Alderson's picture.
