Chris Paddack is going to be angry again.
Mets first baseman Pete Alonso has won the National League Rookie of the Month award for September -- the third time he has taken the honors this season. He also won in April and June.
Alonso's win in April angered Paddack (who thought he was deserving)and led to the two having a back-and-forth through the media when the Mets faced the Padres in San Diego in May.
Paddack made boasts at the time about seeing who would win the Rookie of the Year award, and that one is all but certain to also go to Alonso.
Alonso, who broke the all-time rookie record for home runs when he bashed his 53rd and final homer of the season this past Saturday against the Braves at Citi Field, hit .245/.322/.585 with 11 homers in 22 game in September.
While taking home the honors for June, Alonso hit .307/.435/.653 with nine homers, eight doubles, 21 RBI, and 20 runs scored in 28 games.
In April, Alonso hit .292/.382/.642 with nine homers in 26 games.
Overall this season, the 24-year-old Alonso hit .260/.358/.583 with 53 homers, 30 doubles, 120 RBI, and 103 runs scored in 161 games.
