Now Commenting On:

Lucas Duda will not play in any games for the next few days, Terry Collins said today.

Duda's wrist is fine and he isn't otherwise injured, according to Collins. Duda simply needs more work because he couldn't properly prepare in the off-season due to a wrist injury.

“He’s not quite ready. He’s behind the other guys," hitting coach Dave Hudgens explained to the New York Post. "He hasn’t had any cage work, but his hands are starting to feel better, starting to feel stronger, so we can start to ramp up the work load a little bit and work on his timing."

Duda is 0-for-7 with six strikeouts over his first two Grapefruit League games.

It's early... way, way too early to read in to any stats, let alone Spring Training stats. Duda is working to adjust his approach at the plate, at the same time he's still recovering from injuring his wrist... which he suffered moving furniture. The Mets desperately need Duda to live up to their expectations this season. I have doubts he can do it, but he has plenty of time to get things in order for Opening Day. No rush...
