The Mets (83-76, 6.0 GB for second Wild Card) start their final series of the season with the Braves (97-62, 7.0 GA in NL East) at Citi Field on Friday at 7:10 p.m. on SNY.
The Mets lost 4-2 to the Marlins on Thursday night, despite Zack Wheeler throwing seven scoreless innings. The righty had a rough eighth inning, allowing three runs on two home runs. Wheeler even helped his own cause, driving in an RBI single with the bases loaded in the seventh inning. The Marlins extended their lead to 4-2 in the ninth inning after Edwin Diaz gave up another home run... it's the 15th homer that Diaz has allowed in the ninth inning this season. Robinson Cano exited the game after getting hit by a pitch on his right hand, as he avoided injury, but is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game.
