Now Commenting On:

Matt Harvey has been cleared to begin his throwing program (Rubin).

10:30 am: Harvey took park in the team's morning stretch. However, he is not scheduled to throw today. The team is still deciding when he will talk with reporters about today's news.

9:50 am: Harvey met with team doctors on Wednesday, who cleared him to begin throwing soon.

"Since it is four months out, the process is going to be slow," Harvey said. "I have to not push things. He just wanted to make sure I knew that and I was clear with that. Obviously we're not going to push things early. But, for me, being able to wear my glove and pick up a ball again is a good sign."

Harvey plans on rehabbing in New York, instead of Port St. Lucie, to be with the team this season, which is OK according to league rules (ESPN NY, Feb. 19).

Harvey had Tommy John surgery to repair a tear in his UCL in 2013. He will miss all of the 2014 season.
