However, Sandy Alderson has deferred making a final decision, though several team sources have indicated in multiple reports that they would prefer to see Harvey rehab in St. Lucie.
“For me, I strongly felt that my best opportunity, and my motivation to come back quicker, stronger, work harder would be to be with the teammates," Harvey told New York Daily News columnist Andy Martino (Daily News, Mar. 18). “I have worked so hard to get to the point where I was, and all of a sudden I get hurt, and it’s ‘you’ve got to stay in Florida, you’ve got to disappear from New York, you’ve got to do this.’ I took pride in living in New York, and being a New Yorker. I live there all year round. It’s a place I love being.”
Alderson told MLB Network Radio on Tuesday that he and his staff are in the process of developing a comprehensive rehab program for Harvey, they'll meet with him and intend to reach a mutual agreement at some point sooner than later.
In regards to Harvey pitching for the Mets in 2014, Alderson said he, Harvey and Mets fans all have the same goal, which is to get Harvey back on a mound, 100 percent healthy and contributing to the team's success.
