The Mets have acquired closer AJ Ramos from the Marlins in exchange for RHP Merandy Gonazlez and OF Ricardo Cespedes, the team announced Friday night.
Ramos, 30, has a 3.63 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 47 strikeouts and 20 saves in 39 2/3 innings (40 games) this season.
He is earning $6.55 million this season, eligible for arbitration after the year, and eligible for free agency after the 2018 season.
Ramos has a 2.78 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 379 strikeouts in 327 1/3 innings during his six-year career, which has been spent entirely with the Marlins.
Gonzalez was the Mets' No. 9 prospect, while Cespedes was their 22nd ranked prospect, according to MLB.com.
The 21-year-old Gonzalez had a 1.78 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 89 strikeouts in 106 innings (17 starts) this season between Low-A Columbia and High-A St. Lucie.
Cespedes, 19, hit .255 with a .283 OBP and .294 SLG with one HR and 15 RBI between the GCL (Rookie) Mets, Short-Season A Brooklyn, and Low-A Columbia this season.
