Reed, 26, who is Arizona's former closer, has pitched 40 2/3 innings in 38 appearances with a 4.20 ERA, including three saves, eight holds, two blown saves and a 2-2 record. However, since returning from a mid-season stint in the minor leagues, he has a 1.65 ERA in 16 1/3 innings, during which opponents have a .627 OPS against him.
USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported the Mets will be sending RH minor league pitchers Matt Koch and Miller Diaz to Arizona (Aug. 29).
Reed spent his first three major league seasons with the White Sox, with 29 saves in 2012 and 40 in 2013. Chicago traded him to Arizona, where he had 32 saves last season.
Left-handed hitters are hitting .242 against Reed this year, .210 and .219 in the previous two seasons.
Koch has a 3.46 ERA at Double-A, working as a reliever and starter. Diaz has a 4.71 in High-A in 124 1/3 innings.
