The Mets have activated infielder Jose Reyes off the disabled list and called up RHP Gabriel Ynoa from Triple-A Last Vegas, the team announced Saturday.
To make room on the roster, the team has optioned RHP Logan Verrett and infielder Matt Reynolds to Las Vegas.
Reyes will bat leadoff and play shortstop Saturday night against the Padres. He went on the disabled list on July 30 (with a July 26 backdate) with a strained left intercostal muscle. He recorded two hits in five at-bats Friday night for the Single-A Brooklyn Cyclones.
After two games in Brooklyn, Reyes said he felt good physically, especially batting right handed, which he did on Friday night.
Ynoa, 23, was signed as an international free agent in 2009. Has posted a 10-5 record with a 4.42 ERA in 23 Triple-A starts this season.
