Mets infielder Asdrubal Cabrera is among several players the Dodgers are looking into acquiring as the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approaches, according to Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan.
The Dodgers are among the teams to strongly pursue Orioles shortstop Manny Machado, but Passan reports they are looking for other players, and that list includes the Reds' Scooter Gennett, the Twins' Brian Dozier and Cabrera, who was hitting .280 with 15 home runs and 49 RBIs entering Monday.
Passan's report comes shortly after The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported the Yankees were among the teams to increase their interest in Machado, the 26-year-old four-time All-Star who is hitting .313 with 21 home runs and 60 RBIs.
Cabrera, 32, is in the final year of a three-year, $24.75 million deal and is one of several players the Mets are considering dealing prior to the deadline. Pitchers Zack Wheeler, Steven Matz and Jeurys Familia are among those whose names have surfaced in trade rumors, while the team has moved past the idea of trading Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom.
