The Mets will call up RHP Chris Flexen from Triple-A Syracuse to start on Saturday in place of the injured Jacob deGrom, who is set to undergo an MRI Monday on his elbow

Flexen has made two starts in Triple-A so far, allowing seven earned runs in 12 innings. In his last outing he allowed five runs (two homers) in six innings on six hits and two walks.

However, Flexen does have 18 strikeouts, and Mickey Callaway said that Flexen has "been throwing the ball well."

In 54.1 career MLB innings, Flexen has an 8.45 ERA. Flexen, who after changing his diet lost around 30 pounds since last season, gave up nine runs in 6.1 innings last year, and in 2017 he allowed 42 earned runs in 48 innings.
