When the Diamondbacks come to Citi Field for a three-game set with the Mets starting Friday on SNY, both teams will have their biggest stars take the mound.
The Mets will see both Jacob deGrom (3-0, 1.83 ERA, 56 K) and Noah Syndergaard (3-1, 3.14 ERA, 61 K) take the hill over the next three days while the Diamondbacks will have both Patrick Corbin (4-1, 2.53 ERA, 75 K) and Zack Greinke (3-2, 3.46 ERA, 58 K).
With Yoenis Cespedes and Todd Frazier on the DL, the Mets will likely need dominant performances from their aces against the NL West-leading Diamondbacks.
DeGrom will duel with Zack Godley (4-2, 4.08 ERA, 43 K) on Friday night followed by Steven Matz (1-3, 3.86 ERA, 34 K) vs. Corbin on Saturday. On Sunday, Syndergaard faces Greinke to close out the series.
The Diamondbacks, like the Mets, started hot but are struggling of late. Both teams enter the series having lost seven of their last ten. A series win for either could reignite momentum.
