Now Commenting On:

The Mets will not release Jordany Valdespin when he completes his PED suspension this week, according to Adam Rubin ESPN New York.

However, according to Rubin, that doesn't mean he will play for the Mets when he is reinstated.

"It merely means they intend to carry him into the offseason while they have an available 40-man roster spot," Rubin explains.

Valdespin and Cesar Puello were suspended for 50 games for their connections in the Biogenesis report last month. Both are eligible to be reinstated this week - Valdespin can return on Monday, Puello on Wednesday.

Both players were on the 40-man roster when they were suspended, and so the Mets will have to make a roster move when each returns. However, the Mets can always shift Ruben Tejada and Josh Edgin to the 60-day disabled list to free roster spots at this time.
