David Wright made his return to the field for the first time in two years, but the Mets couldn't come away with a victory in an 8-1 loss to the Marlins on Friday night.
Things you should know about tonight's game...
1) Wright stepped to the plate as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the fifth, as he drank in the thundering roars from the Mets faithful. It was a very quick at-bat, swinging at the first pitch from Jose Urena in a groundout to third base. Despite the out, the crowd still cheered Wright as he walked into the dugout. He will have more chances to hit tomorrow where he is expected to play third
2) Corey Oswalt pitched a solid four innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out four and walking three. The bullpen, on the other hand, imploded. Drew Gagnon let up five runs over 1.2 innings, while Paul Sewald let up two runs over the fifth inning.
3) Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-3 with a walk while Amed Rosario notched the Mets' only RBI single going 1-for-4.
Wright will be in the starting lineup when the Mets continue their series against the Marlins on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. Steven Matz will get the ball against Trevor Richards.
