The Mets' starting pitching health has taken quite a hit over the last 24 hours.

After Noah Syndergaard exited Saturday against the Cardinals with what was later diagnosed as a right hamstring strain that put him on the injured list, Jason Vargas left Sunday's game in the fourth inning

In the middle of his at-bat against St. Louis starter Dakota Hudson, Vargas fouled off a 1-0 pitch and was clearly uncomfortable after doing so. After consulting with training staff and manager Mickey Callaway, Vargas headed to the dugout. The good news, per the Mets, is that it is a calf cramp and nothing overly serious.

Jacob deGrom finished Vargas' at-bat and drew a walk, while Wilmer Font took over on the mound. The southpaw allowed three runs -- two earned -- on just one hit, a two-run shot by Paul Goldschmidt in the first inning.
