As J.D. Davis, Dominic Smith and the rest of the Mets practice social distancing, J.D. and Dom joined SNY's Steve Gelbs on a weekly show right here.
On the debut episode of The Cookie Club with J.D. and Dom, the guys talked about the origins of their Cookie Club, what they're doing to keep busy, and poked some fun at Pete Alonso.
The guys also talked about what they're doing to stay in baseball shape with much of Florida on lockdown, and there being no timeframe yet for when the season will start.
"Everyone (usually) has their own deadline to get ready or to tune up," Davis said. "It is a little bit weird to not really have a date or at least a deadline to kind of work yourself up to get ready. ... Last week we were working out at Barwis, over at the stadium. (Because of) the situation with Florida kind of shutting down a little bit right now (with) what's going on to prevent the spread."
Adding that he stays in roughly two thirds of the day, Davis said the players will work out at the hotel gym and do sprints in the parking lot.
"There's not much to do, it's very limited," Davis said. "We've got to adapt."
As far as Smith goes, he's been getting his swing ready -- in the shower.
"I take some dry hacks, a lot of visualization. ... the dry hacks in the shower, those are the best," he explained. "I love 'em in the shower. You get to really feel your body, your movements, and stuff like that."
