Now Commenting On:

The Mets are likely to keep their Triple-A team in Las Vegas for two more seasons, Mets GM Sandy Alderson told reporter Todd Dewey (Review Journal, Aug. 24).

The organization will probably sign another two-year player development deal with the 51s, according to Alderson.

"That’s a very strong possibility,” Alderson said. “We have a great relationship with the 51s organization. I’ve known (team president) Don Logan a long time, and he runs an excellent operation.”

The Mets moved their Triple-A team to Las Vegas beginning in the 2013 season. The Mets previously had their Triple-A team in Buffalo, New Orleans and Norfolk.

“I’ve got a real good feeling we’re going to be back,” 51s manager Wally Backman said. “I don’t know that for sure, but I think we’ll be back."
