The Mets were held to one hit through eighth innings and two for the game as they settled for a split of Monday's doubleheader with the Phillies after the 3-1 loss.
Things you should know about tonight's game...
1) Corey Oswalt was perfect through four innings and did not allow a hit until there were two outs in the fifth, but it was a big one. The right-hander walked the first two batters of the frame, retired the next two and issued an intentional pass to Maikel Franco with two outs. Nola spoiled the maneuver by lining the first pitch into the right-field corner for a three-run double. Oswalt (0-2) was charged with three runs on one hit and three walks while striking out a career-high seven in six innings.
2) Wilmer Flores singled with one out in the first for New York's only hit until ... he doubled in Brandon Nimmo in the ninth. Nola retired 18 straight from Flores' hit in the first until Michael Conforto's two-out walk in the seventh.
3) New York put the tying runs on base in the ninth, but pinch-hitter Devin Mesoraco struck out to end the game.
