Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard and LHP Jason Vargas will pitch in a simulated game on Tuesday, reports Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
Syndergaard has been sidelined since May 25 with a right index finger strain, while Vargas was forced out by a strained right calf earlier this month.
The Mets plan to have Syndergaard and Vargas pitch in the same simulated game in St. Lucie. In addition to the simulated game, Syndergaard and Vargas will also likely pitch in one rehab outing before returning, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.
Syndergaard threw 31 pitches in Miami on Friday and played catch on Saturday. He has a 3.06 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 11 starts this season, while Vargas has an 8.60 ERA in nine starts.
Rookie RHP Corey Oswalt, who allowed six runs and lasted just 2 2/3 innings in a short-notice start on Friday night, will be in the rotation until those pitchers return.
