The Mets optioned RHP Corey Oswalt to Triple-A Syracuse Saturday afternoon before their night game against the Brewers and called up RHP Drew Gagnon.
Oswalt made his second MLB appearance of the season Friday night in relief of Jacob deGrom, and it didn't go much better than his first. He gave up four runs in three innings, allowing three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
In Oswalt's first appearance of the season on April 13 in relief of Jason Vargas, who only recorded one out, Oswalt was rocked for five innings in 3.2 innings on six hits and four walks.
Gagnon has one MLB appearance this season. He relieved Steven Matz on April 16 in Philadelphia when Matz didn't record a single out and gave up eight runs. Gagnon gave up six runs (five earned) in 5.1 innings.
