Now Commenting On:

Earlier this week, Mets ownership told Terry Collins his job as manager of the Mets is safe, despite speculation that he could be on the hot seat, a baseball source said Friday (Newsday, June 14).

Sandy Alderson met with Collins earlier this week and told him the same, the manager told reporters after his team returned from San Francisco.

The players on the roster are largely Alderson’s responsibility, whereas Collins is mostly charged with keeping them playing hard and teaching them how to big big-league ballplayers, which he is doing, Alderson told Joel Sherman (NY Post, June 10).

“Collins is not going anywhere,” Alderson said before this past Tuesday’s game (Newsday, June 10).

Collins is in the first year of a recently signed two-year contract with an option for 2016.
