RHP Simeon Woods-Richardson, the Mets' second-round pick (48th overall) in June's MLB Draft, has been dominant for the GCL Mets as he's started his professional career.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder out of Kempner High School in Houston, Texas, has not allowed an earned run in 11.1 innings (two starts, three relief appearances), while allowing nine hits, walking four, and striking out 15.
Woods-Richardson features a fastball that touches 95 MPH while also flashing a plus curveball to go along with good arm speed and athleticism, according to Jim Callis of MLB.com.
The deal he signed with the Mets is worth $1.85 million, according to Callis. The pick was valued at just under $1.5 million, meaning the Mets went over slot to ink him.
